The Winter Ski Camp for preschoolers at the Straja resort gives children the chance to learn to ski under the careful guidance of a team of experienced instructors and former competitive skiers, from as young as age 3.

The aims of the ski and nutrition camp are the introduction, consolidation and refinement of the technical skills needed to practice alpine skiing safely, because what matters is not just sliding on the snow, but being in full control in any situation.

Educational and fun activities are ever-present at the ski and nutrition camps. The winter camps include games and short hikes through the snowdrifts, where the children get the chance to build snowmen. In the evening, too, there are games, contests and cabin parties, a talent show, lessons in nutrition and painting, and a night hike.

The mission of the winter camp for preschoolers is to teach the children to ski, to improve their technique and to instill healthy lifestyle habits in them (nutrition, exercise, emotional balance) that they can keep up at home, all in a fun way.

On the last day of the winter camp for preschoolers, the children take part in the camp contest, where parents are invited to support and cheer them on. After the contest, each participant receives a certificate, a medal and a camp group photo.

With whom?

The instructors from the Straja Ski and Snowboard School are responsible for the lessons on the slope. The Tabere Straja team is young and enthusiastic, with specialists from different fields: ski and snowboard instructors, teachers and coaches from UNEFS Bucharest, sports instructors, nutritionist-dieticians, psychologists, actors, cooks and more.

The methodical ski-teaching system used at the camps follows the French method described on the official website www.mementoski.com. This is woven together with games and specific technical elements adapted to the participants' ages, as described in the doctoral thesis "THE CONCEPTUAL AND PRACTICAL OPTIMIZATION OF THE METHODOLOGY FOR TEACHING ALPINE SKIING TO OLDER PRESCHOOL CHILDREN" by the Tabere Straja organizer, Marius Fodoran.

It is worth noting that beginner participants (those who can't yet ski down a slope in a snowplow) will learn the basics on flat ground (terminology, the basic stance, ways of moving on skis, turning on the spot, falling and getting up, snowplow variations on the spot, snowplow descents on an easy slope, games) over 5 to 10 hours. The lessons then continue on the Baloo beginners' slope, served by a conveyor belt, where the children learn the straight snowplow descent and snowplow turns.

Parents are asked not to interfere in the running of the lessons, because the instructors from the Straja Ski and Snowboard School know what to do in any situation, and if needed we will ask for help.

What do we eat?

We have 3 main meals, all healthy and carefully prepared, under the guidance of the nutritionist. Food and drink from outside cannot be consumed in the restaurant rooms at Pensiunea Dor de Munte.

Where are we staying?

Our host for the Ski Camps for Preschoolers in the 2025-2026 winter season is Pensiunea Dor de Munte, which is 50 meters from the Baloo Beginners' Slope.
