What do we do?

The ski and snowboard camps at the Straja Resort give children and teenagers the chance to learn to ski and snowboard under the careful guidance of a team of experienced instructors and former competitive skiers from the Straja Ski and Snowboard School.

The aims of the ski and snowboard camp are the introduction, consolidation and refinement of the technical skills needed to practice alpine skiing/snowboarding safely, because what matters is not just sliding on the snow, but being in full control in any situation.

Educational and fun activities are ever-present at the ski and nutrition camps. The winter camps include games and short hikes through the snowdrifts, where the children get the chance to build snowmen. In the evening, too, there are games, contests and cabin parties, a talent show, lessons in nutrition and painting, and a night hike.

The mission of the winter camps is to teach the children to ski, to improve their technique and to instill healthy lifestyle habits in them (nutrition, exercise, emotional balance) that they can keep up at home, all in a fun way.

On the last day of the ski and snowboard camp, the children take part in the camp contest, where parents are invited to support and cheer them on. After the contest, each participant receives a certificate, a medal and a camp group photo.

With whom?

The instructors from the Straja Ski and Snowboard School are responsible for the lessons on the slope. The Tabere Straja team is young and enthusiastic, with specialists from different fields: ski and snowboard instructors, teachers and coaches from UNEFS Bucharest, sports instructors, nutritionist-dieticians, psychologists, actors, cooks and more.

The methodical ski-teaching system used at the camps follows the French method described on the official website www.mementoski.com. This is woven together with games and specific technical elements adapted to the participants' ages, as described in the doctoral thesis "THE CONCEPTUAL AND PRACTICAL OPTIMIZATION OF THE METHODOLOGY FOR TEACHING ALPINE SKIING TO OLDER PRESCHOOL CHILDREN" by the Tabere Straja organizer, Marius Fodoran.

What do we eat?

Avem 3 mese principale, toate sănătoase, atent preparate, sub îndrumarea nutriționistului. Prima masă în tabără este cina, iar ultima – micul dejun. Food and drink from outside cannot be consumed in the restaurant rooms at Pensiunea Dor de Munte.

Information schedule for the ski camp

Arrival at the camp is around 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM.

• by 4:00 PM the children will receive their equipment;
• 5:15 PM-6:15 PM – The first ski lesson – forming groups by level: beginners, intermediate 1, intermediate 2, advanced; discussions with parents about the program and organization;
• 7:00 PM – Dinner;
• 8:00 PM – Free socializing activities in the chalet;
• 10:30 PM – Lights out.

Daily schedule:

• 8:00 AM – Wake-up;
• 8:30 AM – Breakfast;
• 9:30 AM-12:00 PM – Ski lessons;
• 1:00 PM – Lunch;
• 2:00 PM – Rest time;
• 3:00 PM-5:00 PM – Ski lessons;
• 7:00 PM – Dinner;
• 8:00 PM – Evening activities;
• 9:30 PM – Quiet time;
• 10:30 PM – Lights out.

On the middle day of the camp we don't ski in the afternoon, because we want to manage the effort properly and create more memories. Instead, we'll go tubing and take a walk to the Straja Hermitage and the Heroes' Cross.

On the last day of camp, at 9:30 AM, the children take part in the camp contest, where parents are invited to support and cheer them on. After the contest we hand back the equipment and the rooms. At 10:30 AM the camp awards take place, where we hand out certificates, individual and framed group photos and medals. At 11:00 AM – departure from camp.
