Summer 2026 brought Straja one of the most wonderful experiences for Romanian children and young people worldwide: the ARC Camps, a program initiated and organized by the Department for Romanians Abroad.
At Straja, these camps were run in collaboration with Tabere Straja, which provided accommodation, meals and activities, as well as the local organization of the program, in partnership with the Department for Romanians Abroad. Across 9 sessions, more than 1,800 participants came to the Straja resort for a few days full of adventure, discovery, friendship and the joy of being together.
Children and young people came from the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Portugal, France, Spain, Great Britain, Serbia, the United Arab Emirates and other Romanian communities beyond the country's borders. For many of them, Straja was not just a holiday destination but a place where Romania felt close: through the language, the traditions, the people, the mountains and the energy of a community that welcomed them with open arms.
These 9 sessions at Straja were made possible by the collaboration between the Department for Romanians Abroad and the Tabere Straja team, which provided the infrastructure, organizational experience, activities and local team needed for every session to run safely and with care for the children.
